On November 18th, we teamed up with Arcadia’s health partners to discuss the current climate surrounding COVID and the effects, both primary and secondary, that it is having on our senior population.

Dr. Lori Lorant-Tobias, DO – Chair, Department of Emergency Medicine, Tower Health
Lori Tobias, DO, is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Tobias received her training in emergency medicine at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. She has been practicing emergency medicine at Pottstown Hospital-Tower Health since 2006.
Dr. Tobias currently serves as the Emergency Department Director and has been Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine since 2015. In 2018, she received the Health Award during the YWCA Tri-County Area’s Tribute to Exceptional Women event. Dr. Tobias was recently promoted to the position of Integrative Medical Director. This new position provides quality alignment and oversight to all of the community-based emergency departments in the Tower Health network.
Dr. Jean Seda-Lopez, MD – Medical Director, Hospitalist Services, Pottstown Hospital
Jean Seda-Lopez, MD, graduated with clinical distinction from Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico, in 2013. Dr. Seda-Lopez completed his internal medicine residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in 2016, serving as chief resident and receiving the Senior Resident of the Year Award.
Dr. Seda-Lopez began practicing as a hospitalist at Reading Hospital in 2016 where he developed experience with Unit-Based Clinical Leadership (UBCL). Additionally, he helped to develop and maintain the Intermediate Unit (IMU), and the Second Observation Unit, working with residents and advance practitioners. He also served on various committees, including Alcohol Withdrawal and Grievance.
Dr. Seda-Lopez currently serves as the Medical Director of Hospitalist Services at Pottstown Hospital-Tower Health where he focuses on providing patient-centered care.
Izzy Porter, PT, DPT – Program Manager, BAYADA Home Health Care
Izzy received her Physical Therapy degree in 2016 from Arcadia University where she is also a part time faculty member. Izzy has a strong background in working with aging individuals and is passionate about falls prevention and fitness.
Izzy’s role is to make sure that BAYADA is doing its best to help seniors remain safe as they age. She makes sure that communication between a community’s health care team and a resident’s doctor is timely, accurate, and in their best interest. She also schedules wellness programming and health clinics to help promote good health.
Dr. John Hopkins, DO – President and Founder, CCS Healthcare
Dr. Hopkins served as Medical Director of multiple senior living communities throughout the pandemic. During this time, he has worked to develop infection control strategies on the front lines in communities with COVID outbreaks.
Additionally, Dr. Hopkins served as an advisor to the Pennsylvania DOH on infection control strategies and policy, and as an infection control consultant for more than 100 senior living communities throughout the tri-state region.
Karen O’Brien Garland, RN – Executive Director, Arcadia at Limerick Pointe
Karen Garland boasts 30+ years of experience in senior living, and as a registered nurse. Karen has worked with Vantage Point since its inception 25 years ago and truly lives out the company’s mission of care and compassion with dignity for all of our seniors.
Karen serves as the Executive Director for Arcadia at Limerick Pointe, and is currently overseeing all pre-opening operations and preparations. Karen’s wealth of knowledge and experience makes her the “woman for the job,” welcoming Arcadia residents home safely.
