Greg Stevens – Co-Founder, and President
With decades of significant experience in the senior healthcare industry, including working with former Pennsylvania Governor George M. Leader at Leader Nursing Homes, being a founding member of Genesis Health Ventures (known today as Genesis HealthCare), and later taking the company public as CFO, Greg has been an early leader and advocate in the senior living industry.
After recognizing the unmet need of providing senior living services beyond nursing care, he and wife, Rita, founded a company called Senior LifeChoice in the early 1990s, becoming one of the earliest providers of assisted living in the Mid-Atlantic region. Since that time, the company has evolved into the Vantage Point Retirement Living of today. As the patriarch of the Vantage Point Family, Greg has established a clear vision for the company and says he takes great pride in seeing the talented Vantage Point team execute that vision.
Co-Founder and Vice President of Operations Rita Stevens says the best part of her job is watching the relationships between Vantage Point team members and residents blossom. While she co-founded the company to help seniors enjoy rich, rewarding life experiences, she says the family culture that has ensued provides daily joy. Over the years, Rita has carefully cultivated a culture where the management team is often found in the communities mingling with residents, families, and staff. The result of that hands-on approach: Vantage Point is not only a family-owned company; it is a family.
When she’s not with her extended Vantage Point family, you’ll likely find Rita at the beach spending time with her three grandsons, kayaking the waterways of Rehoboth Bay, adopting BIG dogs or collecting pink flamingos. Fun fact: On Rita’s bucket list … adopting a real pink flamingo!
Kenneth Kuhnle – Chief Financial Officer
The Vantage Point family is lucky to have Kenneth, or Ken as we like to call him at the office, as CFO at Vantage Point. With him, he brings over 25 years of experience in the healthcare services industry in a variety of senior financial management positions with several national and regional healthcare services companies. When asked what he loves about working at Vantage Point, he says “It is like working within an extended family, where everyone pulls together to meet our joint objectives, and where dealing with employees, business partners and residents is always above board. AND, we all genuinely like and respect each other.”
When not at the office, Ken unwinds by golfing, cooking, taking photographs, and spoiling his grandkids. He also enjoys traveling, with his favorite destination thus far being Bermuda – ‘a beautiful island with wonderfully pleasant people. In the future he hopes to go on an African Safari!
Kate Sammler – Corporate Director of Marketing
As the daughter of Rita and Greg Stevens, Kate has spent her entire life growing up in (and with) the company. She’s been an official employee for over 10 years – and who better to describe and promote the company’s vision… which is her primary daily role. Kate says that while she is a member of Stevens family, she feels so very lucky to have an extended family who also believes in the vision, the culture and the approach her parents worked so hard to cultivate.
Kate’s young, at-home family keeps her busy outside of work, but in her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family at home, at the beach, or discovering new restaurants and local brewpubs with friends. She’s passionate about vacations that promote “all-inclusive” anything (perhaps because she grew up hearing about Vantage Point’s all-inclusive monthly rent)!
Joni Remmel – Corporate Office Manager
Joni has been part of the Vantage Point family for over 13 years making sure the corporate office runs smoothly. She is an Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable expert who says the best part of the job is when she gets to visit the communities. “Experiencing the sense of community we’ve worked so hard to cultivate is very rewarding. It brings so much meaning to my work.”
When she’s not working in the office, Joni is an avid gardener and bird watcher. She also loves visiting her favorite place on earth, Cape May, NJ, as often as possible.
David Bolton – Regional Director of Operations
To Dave, senior living is personal. Not only because he has spent the bulk of his career in senior living, but because he’s had experience as the loved one of a family member in need of care. He chose to work with Vantage Point because he believes its personalized, family approach is best for the residents. The special bonds he forms with residents is what he enjoys most about the job. Like others, Dave was originally a part of the Vantage Point family in one of their communities in Hockessin, Delaware. It’s great to have Dave as part of the Corporate team and helping to carry on the culture of Vantage Point in its new projects.
When he’s not overseeing the administrative, operational and financial tasks of the Delaware buildings, Dave can be found relaxing by his backyard pool with his family and English Bull Dogs, Chumley, and Phil.
Karen Garland – Regional Director of Operations
Karen is no stranger to Vantage Point and our communities, originally joining our team in 1996. Karen was instrumental in opening two of our previous communities, and chose to return to Vantage Point after several years in another community because she firmly believes in the philosophy of respect and integrity that is evident in our communities.
Karen is currently overseeing pre-opening operations for Arcadia at Limerick Pointe, where she serves as the Executive Director. Karen says that the best part of her job is getting to interact with and get to know all of her residents and their families, their lives, likes, and loves.
When she’s not working, you can find Karen snuggling her first grandchild and dreaming of vacationing in Virginia. Someday, you might even see Karen in print, as her goal is to write and be published!
From maintenance and security, to laundry, to helping with the design of new construction projects, Leland wears many hats – with pleasure! He loves rolling up his sleeves and taking care of business especially in the communities where he loves spending time with residents. Like the rest of the team, Leland’s favorite part of the job is Vantage Point’s family culture and the strong, healthy communities the culture has cultivated. Prior to his current role, Leland was a member of the family in one of their communities in Phoenixville, PA. Vantage Point is excited to see him in this new role and look forward to seeing his talents shine through as a new generation of communities are developed.
Not a fan of winter, Leland takes full advantage of the warmer months spending time with his wife and three daughters fishing, hiking and restoring and riding vintage dirt bikes.
Loren Galt – Regional Director of Culinary Services
A chef by trade with a lifetime of experience, Loren understands the importance of creating a positive and welcoming environment, all while creating delicious food that is healthy, flavorful, and satisfying. All of the culinary and hospitality services at Vantage Point communities are under Loren’s direction. He says, “my job is to put something in front of residents that makes them say ‘wow!’ every day. Food is nostalgic and comforting, but it’s also entertaining, educational, and satisfying.”
Loren’s favorite part of working with Vantage Point is the knowledge that the interest of employees and residents always comes first.
Outside of the kitchen, you can find Loren fixing up his home, cultivating his kitchen garden, or enjoying the beach, concerts, and any outdoor activity.
KC Gale – Regional New Directions Coordinator
“My position is to teach and learn alongside our team members in our New Directions philosophy and techniques. New Directions is our memory care program that will not only empower our residents and families, but also our staff,” says KC Gale, Regional New Directions Coordinator. KC says one of the best parts of her work is that she has the ability to time travel. “Part of our foundational philosophy in New Directions is to go where the resident is, so if it’s 1936 or 1966, I get to travel there with our residents!” She also enjoys the atmosphere at Vantage point, citing the atmosphere of trust, honesty, and respect in working relationships.
For fun, you can find KC by the water, be it the beach, bay, or river. She loves traveling to Puerto Rico and is always on the hunt for her next cookie jar to add to her collection.
Kate Dunham – Marketing Manager
Kate joined the Vantage Point team in late 2019 as the Corporate Marketing Manager, supporting campaigns and initiatives across the portfolio in support of sales and marketing. She enjoys getting to know our residents in-person—and from behind the computer! Kate thoroughly enjoys working for Vantage Point, citing that “from the moment you walk in the door, you really feel like you’re an important part of something great!”
Outside of work, Kate enjoys traveling with her husband and would love nothing more than to see Italy and Greece in the near future. When she’s home, you can find her immersed in multiple crafting projects at once, most likely with a batch of cupcakes in the oven!
Lana Foley – Corporate Graphic Designer
Every day, Lana gets to express her creative side. As our Corporate Graphic Designer, Lana designs ads, direct mailers, and other promotional pieces to help introduce area seniors to the VPRL family and communities. Lana loves bringing the Vantage Point story to life because she believes the lifestyle offered within VPRL communities truly benefits seniors. And she knows this firsthand! Prior to using her design skills on a daily basis, Lana worked in the Sales/Marketing Office of our Summersgate Community. “I’ve experienced the best of all worlds here at Vantage Point because I’ve had the opportunity to get to know residents, but now I get to showcase my design capabilities and hone my photography skills.”
Photography is Lana’s passion hobby. When she’s not photographing VPRL residents, she likely has her camera with her, shooting whatever she finds inspiring – whether it’s in her local neighborhood or when she’s vacationing in places like New Zealand or Iceland!
Amy Quinter – Administrative Assistant
Amy has her finger on the pulse of just about everything at Vantage Point. Whether it’s answering residents’ questions about billing or assisting with marketing events, Amy says she enjoys guiding families on their senior living journeys.
When she’s not supporting the corporate team, she’s likely spending time with her other family, children or planning her next trip to her favorite city, New York.
